How valuable is what you offer?
Far too many of the people I meet or have as customers think the information and knowledge they have is of little value - not worth sharing or isn't needed when the web is full of wiki this, YouTube that etc. But in reality there's just ONE thing to remember.
The PERCEIVED value is ALL that matters.
What does that even mean?
Simply this - the world of keyboard warriors or you yourself might think something is of little value but to the person who NEEDS it or VALUES it the value can be priceless.
Here's some examples:
A cup of water - to a hot thirsty person
A single pain relief tablet - to a person away from home with a splitting headache
Or take the above example and change it to mild food poisoning...
How to keep cool on an ultra hot day - to a commuter stuck on a train everyday
How to do that thing on a website - to a person stuck and unable to find an answer
One of life's great maxims I refer to a lot across my coaching is this:
'Everything is simple when you know how'
So remember that when you are viewing what you know, what you do and how you can help others as of little value.
And the ring?
Another example - priceless to the recipients of the stone but in the actual world not that valuable at all.
But then if you knew the whole story of a man volunteering to go to war when he didn't have to, catching diseases from the jungles of Burma, sent to a 'death' hospital with little chance of recovery, converts back pay into stones and entrusts a friend to keep them safe, recovers enough to return home and the stones lie forgotten for 50 years, warm hearted grandmother who also loves your beloved girlfriend like the daughter she never had (3 sons), small box opened and a stone passed on to give to her.......you'd then understand why that white sapphire from Northern India is to us - PRICELESS.
And this post is not only a reminder for those struggling to think their knowledge is valuable enough to sell to others - but is also an example of a 'your stories' piece of content.
